CoRePublisher - Product details

The CoRePublisher software -or IBM Cognos Report Publisher software- allows users to dynamically publish IBM Cognos Reports outside Cognos Connection. Currently next target systems are supported: Microsoft SharePoint, an FTP server, a folder or network share, DropBox and Box.net. But, thanks to the CoRePublisher's open API, every other CMS, Version Control or Auditing system that also has an API which allows you to programmatically access it, can be addressed by writing your own target module.

Demo

This demo movie provides you with an overview of CoRePublisher's functionality:

Smart Publications

CoRePublisher allows you to conditionally publish IBM Cognos reports based on the Cognos metadata which is provided along with the Cognos report. You can use parameters such as the report name, folder, owner, burstkey (in case of bursted a report) and even prompt values selected when running the report in Cognos Connection, to determine which reports to process and which not.

The same Cognos metadata parameters can be used to dynamically configure the target location. You can for instance use the burstkey or a prompt value to build op de target folder string of the location where the report needs to be published.

MS SharePoint: Tight Coupling

In MS SharePoint, for example, you can map the IBM Cognos report’s metadata to the SharePoint metadata columns of a document library list. Or, you can also use the metadata to build the target site's URL string. For each SharePoint publication you can pass the required credentials in order to comply with MS SharePoint's security policies.

Lightweight

The CoRePublisher software has a very small footprint on the IBM Cognos system:

  • it uses no Cognos SDK
  • it does not connect to the Cognos Content Store
  • it does not require any changes in the IBM Cognos application tier
  • it does not need to be installed on the IBM Cognos server
  • from within IBM Cognos, default functionality is used to physically save reports on the Cognos server

Also on the SharePoint target system, CoRePublisher has a small footprint:

  • it does not connect to the SharePoint repository
  • it does not require any changes in the SharePoint application tier
  • it does not need to be installed on the SharePoint server
  • from within SharePoint, default functionality can afterwards be applied on the reports
